Kristen spent the next four years at Life University of Chiropractic in Marietta, Georgia. She graduated from Life University with honors and a doctorate in chiropractic. Shortly after graduation, Kristen joined a chiropractic mission team that traveled to Cusco, Peru. In Peru, she experienced life in a developing country while serving on a team of twenty-six chiropractors who adjusted 8,000 patients in four days. Her experiences in Peru confirmed Kristen's passion for her profession. "When we first arrived in Cusco, my team and I were a witness to human suffering. As we began we were then an instrument that delivered chiropractic miracles."

"These people really needed help, they were so thankful for what we did for them, some cried in tears of joy and relief, others hugged you and would not let go. For most, even one adjustment was a life-altering experience."

Knowing that the South would remain her new home, Kristen moved to Charlotte, North Carolina to start her practice. As the team chiropractor for the UNC Charlotte 49er's, she introduced chiropractic care to the University's athletic department. "Working with athletes was something I truly enjoy," I can relate to their sports-related injuries and stresses associated with collegiate sports. In treating the athletes, I was able to help them in ways traditional medicine and PT intervention could not. Their performances improved due to the fact they were not suffering needlessly with a spinal-related problem.

In February 2002, Kristen joined the staff at Bountyland Medical Center in Seneca, South Carolina. She spent two years at this multidisciplinary practice, treating patients while also working with a medical physician and physical therapist to co-manage patients.

In April 2007, Dr. Steely opened the Anderson Wellness Center. The wellness center offers chiropractic care, massage therapy, spinal therapy and nutritional supplementation. Dr. Steely looks forward to her practice continuing to grow and serve the Anderson area with a natural approach to healthcare for the entire family.

Although, her family still remains in New York, Dr. Steely says,

"Anderson has quickly become my home away from home. I have a large patient base that cares so much about me; I feel as much a part of their family as they are of mine. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to love and serve every day. There could not be a more perfect place for me to be than in this community doing what I do."

Why I Do What I Do

Many people have asked me this question. It is the heart and soul of what I do every single day. I had my first Chiropractic experience when I was just 13 years old. I was an active teenager, very driven in academics and in athletics.

Although, that time in my life was also a very challenging time because of a health concern- a condition I called "numbness" in my legs. At the mere age of 13, I was already six feet tall, and at the time, pretty clumsy and awkward. But my inability to properly feel things in my legs and having no sense of their position relative to the rest of my body, made life challenging, very frustrating and pretty scary.
